Bruiser
I chose this name because it's a bear, and they can maul people to death. I also think the name Bruiser was a cool name for this type of Pokemon.

Kesagake
Japanese names might be overused but this one has a story. Long ago a brown bear went on a killing rampage, dragging people out of their homes and eating them and it took a lot of people before it was finally hunted down. If you want to know more about it, Google Sankebetsu brown bear incident to learn more about it. Seems like a fitting name for an Ursaring, which resembles a brown bear with a similar temperament.

Beowulf is from the Old English meaning "bee wolf". The phrase is supposed to be a metaphor for a bear "the wolf that eats honey".

Oberon
Oberon is an old German name meaning 'Royal Bear', pronounced 'AW-bur-on'. There are a few spellings of this name (Auberon, Aubearon, etc,), but I decided to go with this particular spelling to match the ring on Ursaring's stomach. For the sake of retaining pride in battle, forget that Shakespeare named the King of the Fairies in 'Midsummer Night's Dream' Oberon as well...

Kodiak is a type of wild bear from... up north... not really sure. I thought it was fitting for a pokemon that resembled a large bear, since "Grizzly" sounded a little too obvious.
