Serperior	Basilord To start off, I dislike the name Serperior, as it sounds too damn similar to Rhyperior, Rhydon's evolved form, and the actual word "superior." So once Pokémon White was localized, I attempted to come up with a worthier name for this elegant Grass-starter which I ended up using as its nickname. Basilord is a combination of basilisk and lord. It also devrives from basil, an herb used in cooking. My inspiration came from its Japanese name, Jalorda. Jalorda is derived from 蛇 ja (snake) and lord. As it's the Regal Pokémon, the word "lord" fits greatly in its name. The fact that Serperior can seize opponents with its piercing stare (Pokédex entry) makes a reference to the Basilisk, king of serpents in European legends. Putting the two together, and seeing as the word "basil," the culinary herb (a link to it's Grass-typing), is visible in its name, made me feel like I came up with a damn good name for it. I admit, the thought process for the Basilord nickname might be pretty simple, but if I can up with a decent enough name for it, Game Freaks should have been able to come up with an actual name 10x better than Serperior!
